How do I change WordPress to classic mode?

WordPress included the block editor in its 5.0 version release back in 2018. If you worked or managed WordPress websites prior to this release, you may not find the new block editor very user-friendly and may be longing for the old traditional way of updating WordPress websites.

I have some good news for you. You can easily revert to the traditional way of updating your WordPress website by installing the Classic Editor plugin.

Classic Editor restores the previous (“classic”) WordPress editor and the “Edit Post” screen.

The plugin allows the following:

  • Administrators can select the default editor for all users.
  • Administrators can allow users to change their default editor.
  • When allowed, the users can choose which editor to use for each post.
  • Each post opens in the last editor used regardless of who edited it last. This is important for maintaining a consistent experience when editing content.

By default, this plugin hides all functionality available in the new block editor (“Gutenberg”).
